The Government will not proceed with investigating the Auditor General’s role in the $2.6 billion revenue understatement in the 2023 Public Accounts.
Discovered in March 2024, this error prompted an Investigative Committee to identify the causes and recommend improvements.
The Auditor General challenged the investigation into her actions through Judicial Review, with the Privy Council ruling in her favour in January 2025.
While the Committee continued its broader mandate, its final report addressed the error’s causes and proposed oversight enhancements.
After reviewing the findings, the Cabinet deemed further legal action unnecessary to avoid costs and judicial delays.
