Housing Minister David Lee says the government plans to construct more than 3,300 single-family homes across Trinidad and Tobago over the next 15 months.
Minister Lee says the initiative will focus on standalone houses rather than town-houses, adding that homes will be allocated to people who qualify.
Minister David Lee outlined the planned developments during his budget response in the lower house.
He identified sites across several communities, including Arima, Chaguanas, Couva, Claxton Bay and San Fernando.
Among the largest developments are 512 homes at 16th Street in Edinburgh, 354 at Savonetta Phase One and 332 at Santa Rosa Two in Arima.
The plans also include 334 homes at Poblana in Arima, 288 at Savonetta Phase Three in Claxton Bay and 225 at Pineapple Smith in Mausica.
He stressed that the programme would provide single-family homes rather than town-houses.
The minister also rejected suggestions that political affiliation would determine who receives a home, insisting that the programme is intended to serve the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The announced developments span multiple constituencies, with projects ranging from smaller housing sites to developments comprising several hundred units.
