Governor Larry Howai Heads TT Delegation At Annual Meetings Of The World Bank Group And International Monetary Fund

Central Bank Governor Larry Howai is in Washington, DC to lead the T&T delegation in attendance at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund and the Annual Meeting of the Inter-Governmental Group of Twenty Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24) taking place from Monday, October 13th to Saturday, October 18th, 2025.

The delegation also includes Mr. Delvin Cox, Advisor to Executive Director, World Bank Group; Ms. Kimberly Roberts, Trinidad and Tobago’s IMF representative; and Ms. Zarah Mohammed, Manager, Debt Management, and Ms. Stephanie Toolsie, Assistant Manager, Debt Management – both of the Ministry of Finance.

In his statement to the Ministers and Governors Meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G-24) on October 14th, Governor Howai called for called for “concerted international action to roll back tariff and non-tariff barriers that distort trade and disproportionately affect developing economies.” He added that, “Restoring confidence in a fair and transparent multilateral trading system is essential to revitalising global demand, encouraging investment, and supporting diversification in all regions.”

The Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24) coordinates the position of developing countries on monetary and development issues in the deliberations and decisions of the Bretton Woods Institutions (BWI). In particular, the G-24 focuses on issues on the agendas of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) and the Development Committee (DC) as well as in other relevant international fora.
