Sparks flew as Angostura Holdings Limited, together with the National Energy Skills Centre (NESC), powered up the graduation ceremony of 30 young people who successfully completed the ‘Wired For Success’ electrical programme.
Chairman of Angostura Holdings Limited, Gary Hunt, noted that this programme acts as a conduit for bridging the gap between education and the employment market.
Out of 600 applicants, 30 were selected for the nine-week electrical programme.
“Some of you all will move into jobs, some will start businesses, some will continue your studies, and the top five performers will take the next step with Angostura, joining us for a two-month paid on-the-job training programme starting January 2026.”
President of the NESC, Kern Dass, said that with the programme delivering top-of-the-line quality, graduands can rest assured that their qualification is globally recognised and is of a high standing.
“We are an accredited, not just institution, but all our programmes are also accredited. We are also ISO 21001 standard, so we are also internationally recognised for our quality management system and that allows us the opportunity to communicate and vibes, as we say, with international players as well.”
Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Hansen Narinesingh, noted that programmes like these highlight the need to invest further in citizens and integrate persons into a modern, technology-enabled workforce.
“In this regard, technical electrical skills are no longer optional but are essential. These competencies support national infrastructure, energy systems, manufacturing, and industrial development, forming a critical pillar of Trinidad and Tobago’s economic resilience and competitiveness.”
According to Mr. Narinesingh, the ‘Wired For Success’ programme reflects the government’s vision of putting people and skills at the centre of Trinidad and Tobago’s transformation, creating opportunities and hope for those who need it most.
