It has been a tough week for West Indies women’s cricket, both on the field and in the rankings. Captain Hayley Matthews has lost her grip on the number one spot in the ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounders’ Rankings.
A position she held for nearly two and a half years, she was dethroned by New Zealand skipper Amelia Kerr.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has been unseated from the top of the ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounders’ Rankings after a dominant 29-month reign.
New Zealand White Ferns captain Amelia Kerr has claimed the number one spot following a stunning hundred and two wickets for just six runs in a 95-run victory over South Africa in Christchurch.
Meanwhile, Australian opener Georgia Voll’s maiden T20I century, a blazing 52-ball hundred, swept the West Indies 3–0 in Kingstown, Saint Vincent, and, in doing so, she became the new number one-ranked T20I batter in the world.
On a brighter note for the West Indies, Stefanie Taylor’s unbeaten century in the ODI series gave the hosts a reason to smile, vaulting her ten places to 28th in the ODI batting rankings.
