HBI Region Three Solves Three Murders

Three murder accused have appeared in court, following diligent investigative work conducted by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three and their law-enforcement partners. The accused men have all appeared before Masters of the High Court to answer to the charges, arising out of three separate incidents.

In the first court matter, Fidel Mc Lean, 28, a labourer, of Princes Town, appeared before Master Gray, at the South Court ‘B’, on Friday September 5th, 2025, charged with the murder of Shewayne Balkaran, which occurred on August 25th, 2025, in the Princes Town district.

The Sufficiency Hearing date has been set for June 26th, 2026.

Balkaran was found with a stab wound to the neck in Princes Town on August 24th, 2025, following an alleged argument with two men earlier in the day.

One male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter following investigations.

Mc Lean was charged with the offence by Cpl Griffith of the HBI Region, Three, on Thursday September 4th, 2025, following advice received from the Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal.

In the second matter, Peter Mc Intosh, 49, of Cedros, appeared before Master Ambrose-Persadsingh, at the South Court ‘A’ on Monday September 8th, 2025, charged with the murder of Edwin Williams, which occurred on August 22nd, 2025, in the Point Fortin district.

The matter was adjourned to Wednesday December 12th, 2025.

Williams was found dead with stab wounds, on Friday August 22nd, 2025, at the Old Clifton Hill Beach Facility following an alleged altercation.

One male suspect was subsequently arrested in connection with the matter.

Mc Intosh, was charged with the offence by PC Noel of HBI Region Three on Sunday September 7th, 2025, following advice received from Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal on Friday September 5th, 2025.

Finally, in the third matter, Shannon Jaggan, 43, appeared before Master Liebert, in the North Court ‘C’, last week, charged with the murder of Ravi Pandohie, which occurred on August 14th, 2025, in the Central Division.

The Sufficiency Hearing date has been set for May 1st, 2026.

Pandohie was at his Central home, on August 10th, 2025, when a man allegedly entered and assaulted him with a piece of wood. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries on August 14th, 2025.

One man was arrested in connection with the matter on Tuesday September 2nd, 2025.

Jaggan was charged with the offence on Thursday September 4th, 2025, by WPC Nestor of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department, following advice received from Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal on that same date.

All the above investigations were spearheaded by Supt. Steve Persad and supervised by ASP Maharaj, both of HBI Region Three.
