HNC Board Orders Independent Probe Into Principal Appointment

The Board of Management of Holy Name Convent Port of Spain is responding to public concern following the appointment of Sister Renee Hall as Principal.

In a statement, the Board acknowledged the strong emotions and experiences being shared by students, parents, staff, and alumni, noting the deep connection many have with the institution.

The Board says the wellbeing, dignity, and development of students remain its top priority, in keeping with the values of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena.

Amid the concerns raised, a full investigation into current and past allegations involving Sister Hall has been launched.

The Board emphasizes the process will be conducted independently of both its management and the leadership of the Dominican Sisters, and will follow procedures set out by the Ministry of Education Trinidad and Tobago and the Teaching Service Commission.

The Board says it is committed to transparency, accountability, and due process, and will continue engaging stakeholders in the weeks ahead.

Students are being encouraged to submit complaints through established channels, while additional avenues will be outlined as part of the independent investigation.
