Hosay in Trinidad and Tobago is a twelve-day festival celebrated in the first month of the Islamic calendar, Muharram. It commemorates the martyrdom of two grandsons of the Prophet Muhammad, Hussein and Hassan, along with 70 of their relatives and friends.
The seventh night of the observance is known as Flag Night, a street procession that honours Hassan and his standard-bearer.
