Youth development through sport takes centre stage as the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) launches its Primary Schools Cricket Programme 2026 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
This five-month national initiative introduces structured cricket coaching to students across 66 primary schools, fostering discipline, teamwork and early sporting talent while strengthening the pathway from school cricket to national representation.
In this interview, Lyndell Hoyte-Sanchez, Head of the Community Sports Department, discusses the programme’s objectives, its practical implementation in schools, and the long-term benefits for students, schools and communities.
She also reflects on insights from the 2025 edition and how this initiative supports SporTT’s wider mission of developing sport across Trinidad and Tobago.
