Japanese pop culture was on full display at The Legend of the Shogun, a three-day event hosted by Alias Entertainment Expo and the Embassy of Japan.
Calligraphy, origami, martial arts, and yukata dressing were some of the offerings at this weekend’s Expo.
According to Alias Entertainment Expo’s Dwayne Caberrea, his company is well known for being the home of cosplay in Trinidad and Tobago.
“Alias Entertainment Expo is a pop-culture convention where you can find all things manga, anime, comic books, video games, movies, right in one spot here at the Centre of Excellence. It is usually held on the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August, and that’s what we are doing right now on the third of August here at the Centre of Excellence. If you are into anything pop culture, as I mentioned, here is the place to be every year.”
Almost 600 patrons attended the first day of the event, which was held at the NALIS Library in Port of Spain, and gained extensive knowledge of Japanese culture through cultural workshops by Hachidorikai, the Japanese Ladies’ Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
The event came to an end on Sunday at the Centre of Excellence.
