A coordinated joint police operation involving the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) Area South and the San Raphael Police resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of over half a kilogramme of compressed cannabis on Thursday, 14th August, 2025.
At approximately 10:15am, while on foot patrol at the San Raphael Junction, officers from the NDTF Area South received intelligence from a specialist unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) regarding a vehicle transporting narcotics in the Port of Spain area.
Officers enlisted the assistance of the San Raphael Police, who were on mobile patrol in the district. Acting swiftly, the team intercepted a silver grey Hyundai Elantra along St. Clair Avenue, Port of Spain.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a white plastic bag containing a brown rectangular package. Upon inspection, it was found to contain 527 grammes of compressed cannabis, with an estimated street value of $57,970.00.
One suspect, a 27-year-old man, of Harp Place, Port of Spain, was arrested in connection with the find.
The operation, conducted between the hours of 10am and 1pm, was spearheaded by Insp. Gadar, along with Sgt. Persad and Sgt. Metivier, and supervised by Cpl Foster, under the overall coordination of W/Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson, Supt Etienne, and ASP Pitt.
Investigations are ongoing and are being led by PC Cruickshank.
