President of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM), Ancel Roget, says “serious announcements” will be made at Labour Day celebrations on Friday.
Speaking to TTT News, JTUM President Ancel Roget noted that the upcoming annual Labour Day observance will go beyond the ceremony, hinting at policy directions and strategic moves that could impact workers and communities nationwide.
“Labour Day 2026 promises to be very, very exciting. Our members are excited. Serious announcements are going to be made.”
He added that the union is already working on multiple levels to support national progress while safeguarding workers’ interests.
“We call on workers to be no other place but at Charlie King Junction and in the march on June 19th, Fyzabad. Labour Day for us is not just another holiday. It is a very serious day where we do some reflection on the achievements of the past, how we got them, and how we project ourselves to protect them and to build on them in the future going forward.”
The JTUM President said the country stands on the brink of unprecedented development and stressed that organised labour is actively working to ensure equitable participation.
“There’s a whole message of hope as we look forward to the immediate future. This country is going to take off on a trajectory of serious development, enormous development, the likes of which perhaps it has never seen in the past. And we want the workers, the people, to position themselves, our members to position themselves, to be beneficiaries of those developments. It cannot be that when this country develops and so on, economically, the people are left behind. And that is what we are busy behind the scenes and in front of the scenes, working hard to ensure we support the Government in all of its initiatives to ensure that this country progresses and moves forward.”
Labour Day takes place on June 19th.
