Trinidad and Tobago edged past Guyana with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the PANAM Hockey Federation’s Men’s Junior Continental Qualifier, Junior Pan American Challenge 2025, held at the Sir Garfield Sports Complex in Barbados.
After a goalless first half marked by several penalty corners and green cards for both teams, Jabari Lovell opened the scoring for Trinidad and Tobago in the tenth minute of the third quarter to take the lead. It was all one-way traffic for Trinidad and Tobago in that quarter.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Aidan Elias got the junior stickmen on the scoreboard when he found the back of the net in the second minute of the fourth quarter.
With the match finely poised, Trinidad and Tobago’s Adam Wyatt secured the decisive goal late in the fourth quarter, sealing a dramatic 2-1 win.
The game was a physical contest, seeing multiple cards issued, including a yellow card each for Guyana’s Nkosi Saul and TTO’s Levi Anderson, highlighting the intense rivalry between the two Caribbean nations.
Trinidad and Tobago will face Guatemala for their next match on March 12th.
