KestheBand Makes History With Sold-Out Performance At Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom

KestheBand has achieved a historic milestone for Caribbean music, becoming the first Soca group to sell out Vancouver’s renowned Commodore Ballroom, one of Canada’s most iconic live entertainment venues.

The sold-out show, held as part of the band’s Roots, Rock, Soca Tour, marks a significant achievement for the Trinidad and Tobago-based group and underscores the growing international appeal of Soca music. The Commodore Ballroom, a fixture of Canada’s West Coast music scene for nearly a century, has hosted some of the world’s most celebrated performers, including David Bowie, Nirvana, KISS, Tina Turner, Radiohead, Coldplay and The Tragically Hip.

The historic concert drew a capacity crowd, with fans filling the venue and singing along to popular hits such as “Savannah Grass”, “Hello”, “Tuesday on the Rocks” and “Jolene.” The performance transformed the landmark venue into a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture and music.

Widely regarded as one of North America’s premier concert halls, the Commodore Ballroom has long served as a platform for internationally acclaimed artists. KestheBand’s ability to headline and sell out the venue represents a breakthrough moment for the Soca genre, highlighting its expanding reach and influence on the global music stage.

The achievement adds to a growing list of international successes for the band, which has spent the past decade building a global audience through performances across North America, Europe and the Caribbean. Previous appearances at major venues, including Central Park in New York City, the O2 Academy Brixton in London and Budweiser Stage in Toronto, have helped cement the group’s reputation as one of the Caribbean’s leading musical exports.

Reflecting on the milestone, frontman Kees Dieffenthaller described the experience as a victory for the wider Soca community.

“When we walked on that stage and saw a packed audience in The Commodore Ballroom singing every word back to us, it felt like a victory for everyone who has championed Soca over the years,” Dieffenthaller said. “To join the ranks of legendary artists who have performed at The Commodore Ballroom is a strong statement that Soca music continues to break barriers and connect people across cultures, cities and continents.”
