Kidnapping Victim Suraj Ramlakhan Released

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has confirmed the safe recovery of kidnapping victim, Suraj Ramlakhan, following an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation conducted on the night of Wednesday 18th March 2026 within the Central Division.

Mr. Ramlakhan, 57, was kidnapped on Saturday March 14th 2026, and a ransom was subsequently demanded for his safe release.

Based on developing intelligence, officers focused their efforts in the vicinity of Roopsingh Road, Carapichaima, where the victim was believed to have been seen.

Acting on information, officers conducted systematic searches of a galvanised shed and adjoining vegetated areas, with support from the TTPS Air Support Unit, which conducted aerial reconnaissance using infrared drone capabilities under the direction of Ag. ASP Rampallard. Subsequently, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrived on the scene with the recovered victim.

Mr. Ramlakhan, who was released between 10:30pm and 11:30 pm, later guided officers to the location where he was reportedly released, from where he made his way to relatives along Roopsingh Road, who alerted the authorities. The victim was subsequently conveyed to the Chaguanas Health Facility for medical attention.

The recovery was the result of coordinated investigative efforts and a targeted operation spearheaded by DCP Natasha George, ACP Richard Smith, and Snr Supt Anderson Pariman. The multi-agency exercise involved officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Home Invasion Unit, and the Northern Division Gang Unit.

Investigations are ongoing under the direction of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
