The Longdenville Sathya Sai Primary School has officially been granted Government-Assisted Status.
Speaking during the recognition ceremony on Friday, Minister of Education, Dr. Michael Dowlath, said that with this transition, he hopes the school continues to produce stellar results.
“I pray that the consistency that has been your hallmark from early childhood and now at primary will continue with your teaching and learning that is taking place and the clear alignment you have with the national education goals.”
Member of Parliament for Caroni East, Dr. Rishad Seecharan, highlighted previous successes of the school.
“In SEA results, the 2024 results, 87.5% of the students sitting the exam at this school scored above the national average.”
Both Ministers noted that this transition was fully supported by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Minister Dowlath stated, “I don’t think there was a Cabinet Note that may have passed and gotten approval and confirmed as quickly as this one. We had her full support and I want you all to recognise that.”
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Claudelle Mc Kellar, said the recognition ceremony is more than just the celebration of a milestone for the school.
“Also affirm the Ministry of Education’s commitment to partnership that enhances access, equity, and quality of education across our nation. The culmination of all of us here redounds to a simple but very important purpose: preparing our children to be responsible and compassionate citizens.”
The Longdenville Sathya Sai Primary School was previously solely operated by the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago.
