The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) continues to deliver on its mandate to disrupt criminal activities and ensure public safety, with two recent successful operations conducted on Tuesday 21st October, 2025.
A coordinated operation led by the Narcotics Division Task Force (NDTF) South, in collaboration with a specialist TTPS unit, resulted in the seizure of 49.74 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated street value of TT$5.45 million.
The exercise took place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the Port of Spain Division and was coordinated by Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson, Supt McKenzie, and ASP Pitt, spearheaded by Cpl Foster and directly supervised by Ag/Cpl Ramsaran.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., while at the Forensic Science Centre, officers received intelligence information regarding a motor vehicle allegedly transporting firearms and narcotics from the Maracas Bay area. Following a high-speed chase through Saddle Road and the Santa Cruz area, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot by jumping into a river.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three bales containing 90 bricks of cannabis, which were seized. The vehicle and narcotics were transported to the San Raphael Police Station for further investigation.
A separate anti-crime exercise was conducted in the San Juan Police District between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., targeting known persons of interest under the Emergency Powers Regulation.
The operation was spearheaded by Ag/W/Snr Supt Guy-Allen, Supt Birch, and Ag/Asp Callender, coordinated by Insp Ramsingh, and supervised by Sgt Martin. Execution of the operation was carried out by Cpl Lavia, members of the NEDTF, and the K9 Unit.
Searches were conducted at First Street, San Juan where officers discovered two black plastic bags containing plant-like material resembling marijuana in a bin outside the premises. It was weighed and amounted to 1057 grams.
Acting on further intelligence, officers proceeded to an open lot near Moses Avenue, San Juan, where they recovered a Glock 22 pistol with a magazine and seven rounds of ammunition concealed in a white jersey in a bushy area.
The firearm was processed by Crime Scene Investigators. The officers took possession of both the firearm and the narcotics. Investigations are continuing.
