A Maraval man has appeared before a Master of the High Court charged with the murder of Nary Gunness, who died at hospital on Friday 18th July, 2025.
David Beharrylal, aka ‘Joseph Beharrylal’, 41, of La Seiva Road, was charged with the offence, when he appeared before Master Rehanna Hosein on Tuesday 5th August, 2025.
The Sufficiency Hearing date has been set for December 3rd, 2025.
Gunness, 63, of Maraval was admitted to the Port of Spain General Hospital on July 15th, 2025, allegedly with broken ribs and internal bleeding. He subsequently died while at the Intensive Care Unit on Friday 18th July, 2025.
A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter on Tuesday 29th July, 2025, by officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Intelligence Unit.
Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Ramjag, Insp. (Ag.) Seecharan, Insp. (Ag.) Ramsumair, all of HBI, Region One.
Beharrylal was charged by PC Roberts, also of HBI Region One, on Monday 4th August, 2025, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on that same date.
