The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office has issued a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert as a Tropical Wave passes over the country, raising the potential for isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms beginning at midnight tonight.
While widespread heavy rainfall is not expected, the Met Office warned that isolated areas could see periods of intense rainfall and strong wind gusts.
Officials cautioned that gusty winds near 50 km/hr are possible in the vicinity of heavy showers and thunderstorms, which could displace loose outdoor items, topple trees, and lead to choppy seas. Heavy downpours may also result in street and flash flooding, as well as localized ponding in low-lying areas.
Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and monitor further updates from the Met Office as the system moves through the country.
