Minister Alexander : Upgrade Of St. Mary’s Police Post A “Christmas Gift” To Moruga

Minister of Homeland Security, the Honourable Roger Alexander MP, attended the opening ceremony to mark the upgrade of the St. Mary’s Police Post to a full Police Station in Moruga, describing it as a Christmas gift to the community.

The upgrade enables the expansion of policing services to residents of St. Mary’s and surrounding communities, and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to enhance infrastructure and policing in rural areas.

Minister Alexander, accompanied by Commissioner of Police and other senior police officials, recognized the support of several government ministers at the opening ceremony, including the Honourable Jerlean John, Minister of Works and Infrastructure, and the Honourable Michelle Benjamin, Minister of Culture and Community Development. Representatives from Local Government were also in attendance.

The Minister underscored the importance of continued investment in law enforcement infrastructure as a critical component of national security and commended officers serving the Moruga district for their dedication.

Addressing approximately 500 residents at the ceremony, Minister Alexander encouraged continued collaboration between the community and law enforcement to build a safer space and resilient community.

He indicated that concerted efforts were made to complete the Moruga Police Station by Christmas 2025, delivering a tangible, functional and beneficial Christmas gift to the people of Moruga and surrounding areas.
