Minister in the Ministry of Housing Anil Roberts is alleging that the company awarded the contract to construct the PNM Headquarters, Balisier House, later went on to receive millions in State contracts.
The Minister in the Ministry of Housing made the claims during an interview on Talk City 91.1FM on Friday.
“So here they win the bid, they didn’t have no contract from the government before, they win the Balisier house bid, and then bam: Edmund Dillon and HDC give them a contract for 22 million, but then it got very interesting. Further, in 2023, Wood Green itself, the same company that won the Balisier House award and reduced it by $9 million, was awarded a government contract in respect of the Citrus Cloves Development in circumstances that are highly suspicious.”
Quoting from what he says was the letter of acceptance from the Housing Development Corporation to Wood Green Construction Services Ltd, Minister Roberts alleges that a company named Rainbow Construction Ltd was not awarded the contract despite being the lowest bidder.
“However, after a further process in which bids were scored against various criteria, Wood Green’s bid was given a score of 64 out of 65 points in relation to proposed cost, with Rainbow, the lower bidder by 33 million, being given a score of only 54.”
