The Mc Bean Ramleela and Cultural Group celebrated the closing segment of Ramleela on Sunday.
Minister of Public Utilities and Member for Couva South, Barry Padarath, said he will continue to dedicate himself to bringing about more cultural support for the area.
“It’s often said that you put your money where your mouth is, and this evening I’m here, not to walk with my hands swinging, but to donate $5,000 out of my salary to the Ram Leela Committee. But also to say that the government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago will also lend our support.”
He assured devotees that all is being done, especially at the administrative level, to ensure that they get adequate funding from the Ministry of Culture.
“The government will lend its financial support because it is activities like Dharma in action through Ram Leela that keeps our young ones away from a life of crime, away from a life of negativity. And therefore this evening, while this committee continues to do good work within our community, keeping SanataN Dharma alive, they’re also empowering our younger ones. And I want to congratulate the committee for the empowerment of our youth.”
