Minister of Culture and Community Development, Michelle Benjamin, has extended hearty congratulations to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) on the outstanding success of its fourth annual Tobago Carnival. She also recognised the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation (DOTCAT), together with all organisers, artistes and stakeholders, for their collective role in delivering a safe, vibrant and memorable celebration of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture.
In a statement, Minister Benjamin praised the creativity, organisation and community spirit that were evident throughout the celebrations, noting that Tobago Carnival continues to grow in stature as a signature event on the national cultural and tourism calendar. In commending the island’s ability to honour Trinbago’s traditions while showcasing its own distinct flair, Minister Benjamin expressed her appreciation, stating, “The fourth annual Tobago Carnival was a true reflection of the island’s heart and soul. From the rhythm and energy of J’ouvert to the colour and splendour of the Parade of the Bands, Tobago once again showed the world the power of our culture to unite, uplift and inspire.”
Since its inception, Tobago Carnival has continued to grow in scale and impact, providing a dedicated platform for Tobagonian talent while attracting increasing numbers of visitors each year. Minister Benjamin noted that the continuity of this celebration underscores Tobago’s determination to build a sustainable cultural brand rooted in authenticity, creativity and community pride.
Minister Benjamin also extended gratitude to the security and emergency services, volunteers and cultural practitioners whose dedication ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for both locals and visitors.
In celebrating this achievement, the Ministry of Culture and Community Development reaffirms its commitment to continuing partnership with the THA and all cultural stakeholders, saying, “these collaborations will ensure that Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival remains an enduring expression of our shared cultural heritage as ‘the greatest show on earth.'”
