Minister Hosein: No Fair Response Expected From Opposition In Budget Debate

Minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein said he doesn’t expect any fair response from the Opposition, as debate on the 2026 Budget presentation begins on Friday in the Lower House.

The Barataria/San Juan MP said the Opposition already expressed its views on the budget earlier this week, and he is not anticipating anything different.

“We start early in the morning and go late into the night, so there is nothing strange about that. I anticipate that we will have the debate running from morning into the night. Tomorrow is one of those special days where the Opposition Leader will respond. I don’t anticipate to hear anything good from her, simply because we already heard what they are going to say. They had several comments over the past week. The Opposition Leader is being, that is what she is being paid to do right now, to oppose us. I think it was a very balanced, a good budget, a people’s budget, a fair budget. Therefore, all of us, in terms of the Parliamentarians and so on, will be rolling out more of our plans and initiatives going forward in this fiscal year.”
