Minister of Legal Affairs and Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Saddam Hosein today hosted the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, and Mr. Ajah Kumar Yadav, for a follow-up meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The discussions took place at the Ministry of Legal Affairs, AGLA Tower, Port of Spain.
The engagement comes on the heels of the Official Visit of Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, in July 2025. During the Prime Minister’s visit, several bilateral initiatives were identified and agreed to be pursued with various Ministries, including the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries.
Minister Hosein was accompanied by Ms. Abigail Bynoe, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and Mr. Ric Ali, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, underscoring the collaborative approach to these initiatives.
His Excellency Dr. Rajpurohit reaffirmed the Indian Government’s unwavering commitment to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago. He emphasized the importance of the swift implementation and execution of the deliverables discussed and agreed upon during the Visit.
Furthermore, High Commissioner Rajpurohit encouraged Trinidad and Tobago to utilize the numerous training opportunities available through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme. ITEC is a prominent bilateral assistance programme run by the Government of India, designed to address the needs of developing countries through innovative technological cooperation and capacity building. The renowned technology of India was mentioned and agreement was conveyed to explore suitable applications for T&T.
The meeting highlighted the continued strong partnership between Trinidad and Tobago and India, paving the way for concrete advancements in areas of mutual interest.
