“We are opening up the world.”
That was the declaration of Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, during a tour of Nestlé Caribbean’s facilities at Valsayn earlier today, together with other representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism.
For over 63 years, Nestlé has been innovating in Trinidad and Tobago- from supporting local dairy farmers and training youth with UTT and On-The-Job Training (OJT), Ministry of Labour, to expanding exports across the Caribbean and promoting inclusive employment.
Minister Maharaj was met by Nestlé executives led by Mr. Alejandro Moya, Caribbean Market Head, and taken on a tour of the factory’s facilities where he had an opportunity to see the continuous development and innovation in operation.
The Minister commended the company’s efforts, encouraged the organization to continue to source local materials for its operations and pledged the Ministry’s support in tackling bottlenecks to growth.
“Your problems are over,” he told Nestlé’s leadership team. “I want you all to quadruple production here.”
This engagement is in keeping with the Ministry’s commitment to strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders, foster inclusive dialogue, and build a dynamic, diversified non-energy sector for Trinidad and Tobago.
