The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Senator the Honourable Eli Zakour, together with Permanent Secretary Ms. Nicolette Duke, yesterday met with the newly appointed management and support staff of the Ministry.
During the meeting, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Infrastructure, the Honourable Jearlean John, paid a courtesy visit, warmly welcoming the new team. She shared a brief history of the former Transport Ministry, encouraged continuity of excellence, highlighted the value of leveraging international best practices, and emphasized the critical role of public transport in supporting national operations.
Minister Zakour shared his vision for the Ministry, stressing the importance of teamwork, accountability, integrity, dedication, and service excellence in the delivery of public services. Permanent Secretary Nicolette Duke further underscored the essential role of management and staff in advancing national objectives and assured the team of the Ministry’s full support in achieving its mandate.
The session provided an opportunity to formally introduce the team, outline the Ministry’s strategic priorities, and reinforce the Government’s commitment to strengthening both the transport and civil aviation sectors. These first-hand conversations also identified key areas requiring improvement and innovation and aligns with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago’s broader mandate to streamline the Ministry’s service, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate customer service delivery.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation looks forward to continued collaboration as it pursues initiatives aimed at improving licensing services, traffic management, civil aviation standards, and the modernization of transport infrastructure in Trinidad and Tobago.
