Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Phillip Alexander, says the public is entitled to transparency regarding how the People’s National Movement financed the construction of its Balisier House headquarters, adding that the party now has an opportunity to address the issue in court.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, he noted that the court proceedings provide an avenue for the party to demonstrate that the project was financed legally.
“We look forward to the defence. Like everyone else, we saw a party that was in debt all of a sudden found themselves able to put up a $100 million edifice. We would like, like everybody else, to know that what was done was done legally and that there’s no corruption or kickbacks or drug trafficking or any of those things involved. So we’re waiting to see. So if they say that they’re ready to defend, I look forward to that like everybody else.”
