The relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela remains “intact.”
Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers made the statement as he responded to questions from journalists at a media conference held on Wednesday.
“All diplomatic relations with the people of Venezuela remain intact. We are following certain protocols as it pertains to moving further in terms of these relations. At this stage, because of how sensitive those protocols are, I won’t be able to comment on those discussions.”
Minister Sobers said the government has taken note of developments in Venezuela and will maintain ongoing monitoring of the situation.
“The government recognises the fact that there has been some degree of change in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. But the government also recognises that there has been conversation with respect to a smooth democratic transitionary process, and we are waiting for that to take place.”
