India’s High Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit held discussions with Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, Dominic Smith, on Tuesday, aimed at strengthening digital ties between India and Trinidad and Tobago.
The meeting focused on digital transformation and capacity building, with a key highlight being to fast-track the rollout of India’s UPI digital payment platform in Trinidad and Tobago.
India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a system that powers multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application of any participating bank, merging several banking features, seamless fund routing and merchant payments into one.
It also caters to the “Peer to Peer” collect request, which can be scheduled and paid as per requirement and convenience.
Ms. Maria Francis from the National Payments Corporation of India Ltd also joined Tuesday’s talks with the Minister.
