Ministers Visit Scene Of Fatal Accident On Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Senator Eli Zakour, has extended his deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those affected by Tuesday’s tragic accident, which occurred south of the Freeport intersection along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway and left two people dead.

Officials confirmed that PTSC bus driver Munsaf Khan and passenger Roxanne Phillip, a security officer attached to SWAT, died as a result of the collision between the bus and a flatbed truck.

Preliminary reports state that the truck driver was travelling along the shoulder and pulled into the lane occupied by the PTSC bus. Mr. Khan swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision but still ended up crashing into the truck.

Minister Zakour visited the scene of the accident alongside Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander. Both offered support to those impacted and received preliminary reports from the relevant authorities and the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC).

Both Ministers expressed sincere gratitude to the first responders and emergency services for their swift actions, which helped safeguard the well-being of other passengers aboard the PTSC bus.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is urging all road users to exercise the utmost care and responsibility on the nation’s roadways. Emphasising that road safety is a shared responsibility, the Ministry highlighted the importance of observing speed limits, obeying traffic regulations, and respecting fellow road users.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to improving road safety and appealed to all stakeholders and members of the public to support this ongoing national effort.
