The Ministry of Culture and Community Development, led by the Honourable Michelle Benjamin, Minister of Culture and Community Development, successfully hosted a Community Outreach Programme on Saturday February 28th, 2026 in the Moruga/Tableland and Princes Town districts, held at Enchanted Gardens from 10AM to 4PM.
This initiative brought essential government services directly to residents of both areas and neighbouring communities.
The Ministry is therefore pleased to announce that this first session begins a series of outreach hosted by its Community Development Division, forming part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community engagement and improving access to social support services across Trinidad and Tobago.
Throughout the day, residents accessed a wide range of services, including:
– Social and Family Support;
– Public Assistance information;
– Youth, Culture and Community Development programmes;
– Registration and referral services;
– Healthy Lifestyles consultations; and
– Networking opportunities with various community stakeholders.
Representatives from several government and affiliated agencies were also present to provide guidance and respond to queries. In light of this, the Utilities Assistance Programme managed by the Ministry of Public Utilities was among the key services highlighted, with officers providing information and facilitating applications for eligible persons. Many residents expressed appreciation for the convenience of accessing multiple services in one location.
In addressing attendees, Minister Benjamin emphasised, “We are dedicated to meeting communities where they are and ensuring that no citizen is to be left behind. Initiatives such as the Community Outreach Programme demonstrate the Government’s ongoing efforts to make services more accessible, inclusive and responsive to the needs of the population.”
The outreach also provided a valuable platform for direct dialogue between citizens and service providers, allowing residents to raise concerns, seek clarification on available benefits and receive personalised guidance. This engagement not only strengthened trust between the Ministry and the community, but also helped to identify priority areas for future interventions and support.
The Ministry of Culture and Community Development extends gratitude to all attendees, participating agencies and community partners who contributed to the success of the event. The Ministry remains committed to making a meaningful difference in communities across Trinidad and Tobago through continued outreach and engagement initiatives.
