The Ministry of Health has confirmed that there have been no reported surges at health facilities within the Central district.
A statement from the Ministry said current data indicates that Accident and Emergency Departments at both the Chaguanas and Couva District Health Facilities continue to operate within normal patient volumes, with no unusual increase in the number of individuals accessing care.
As it relates to Tobago, the Ministry said there is no single factor responsible for the recent uptick in admissions. It noted that Tobago’s total bed capacity stands at 130, and fluctuations in occupancy can occur. In response, patient decanting procedures have been implemented, with less critical cases being transferred to the Roxborough Hospital to accommodate those awaiting beds.
The Ministry stated that it remains in close communication with the relevant Regional Health Authorities to ensure the continued delivery of timely and effective care across all facilities.
