Principal Medical Officer of Institutions, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, in providing an update on the status of the parallel health care system, stated that 372 persons are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. This number equates to 36% of the total occupancy, with 34% occupancy being observed at the ward level, 76% at the ICU level and 30% at the HDU level.
Technical Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Avery Hinds the percentage positivity (number of cases that return positive per 100) has been hovering between 25% & 30%. Dr. Hinds also indicated that to date, 521,770 have been vaccinated with one dose of a 2 dose regime and 413,096 persons have completed a vaccination regime.
