County Medical Officer of Health for St. George East Dr. Osafo Fraser said the minor who tested positive for the COVID-19 Delta variant may have contracted the virus at a family gathering.
Dr. Fraser confirmed the news during Wednesday’s COVID-19 health update. Dr. Fraser said a number of public health regulations were breached at the gathering which resulted in several persons being infected with the COVID-19 virus.
Dr. Fraser reiterated that minors are vulnerable and is advising adults to get vaccinated to protect minors against the virus.
