One of the charges against former Minister Marlene McDonald has been dropped.
Notice of this comes from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard via a notice on March 25th that he is discontinuing proceedings against Ms. Mc Donald for misbehaviour in public office. The DPP said this was done pursuant to the provisions of Section 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Ms. McDonald was charged in April 2019. The offence dates back to April 2010 when as Minister of Community Development she approved a payment for $2.3 million to be applied towards the construction of a community facility at Marcano Quarry Lands in Laventille, without obtaining approval.
