Miss Tobago Chanique Marcelin returned to home soil on Wednesday, greeted with applause, hugs and smiles.
The 17-year-old made the island proud in the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2025 competition after capturing the judges’ attention and securing the first-runner-up position.
Speaking with TTT News outside the ANR Robinson International Airport, Miss Marcelin said her experience at the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2025 competition was a wonderful one.
“I entered this competition for growth and to inspire the youth of Tobago. It has been a wonderful experience, especially meeting all my delegates. They are some wonderful young ladies and my journey has been fulfilling so far.”
The 17-year-old topped several segments of the competition and was also the Top Model winner.
“So each segment of the Miss World competition has taught me a lot of different things, and it really showed me that I had to be in character for all the different segments, but being able to be chosen in the top three, four, and five for all the different segments has really shown me how I have come since I first entered, and I am so grateful.”
Chanique shared that when it was announced she was the 1st runner-up in the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2025 competition, it was an emotional moment.
“It was a huge adrenaline rush to know that I have worked so hard and come this far in the competition, and to become the youngest in history, Miss World T&T first-runner-up is such a blessing to reach this far.”
Chanique hopes to be an inspiration for other young women on the island.
“I will tell them follow their dreams and passions. Never give up. No matter your age, you can still conquer the unbelievable.”
She said her mission has not ended, as she explained she will be continuing to execute her Beauty With a Purpose initiative in Tobago.
