While dedicated fathers were honoured on Sunday, Central Division police officers spent their day chasing the fathers who have been less committed to meeting their obligations.
This led to the arrest of more than two dozen men owing a total of almost $150,000 in unpaid maintenance fees.
Officers of the Central Division Warrants Department executed 34 warrants during Operation Steady Guard over a two-day period.
During the exercise, 26 men were held for outstanding maintenance fees, including a Petersfield man who owed $26,000, a Claxton Bay man who was in arrears of $25,602, and another Claxton Bay man owing $21,402.
The total value of the maintenance arrears amounted to more than $147,439.
Additionally, eight persons were arrested for various offences, including wounding, shooting, larceny and traffic offences.
