MP Roger Alexander Responds To Longstanding Concerns In El Dorado

Light is finally breaking through the darkness for residents of the La Goya Housing Development in El Dorado, who say years of unresolved issues have affected their quality of life.

The residents are praising the work done by their Member of Parliament, Roger Alexander, who stepped in to assist.

One resident, Derrick Le Gere, told TTT News about their challenges with street lighting.

“In the back here, it used to be this dark in the night because the lights is in front and in the back here don’t have nothing at all. So if anybody want to drive or if somebody want to come and steal, you know, in the back here, they have no lights.”

Another resident, Steven Layne, explained that their issues were raised during a visit by Mr. Alexander, who promised to bring some relief.

“He kept his word. It was actually two weeks after. As you can see, we rectified the problems with the lights. So T&TEC came and we did the lights. So we have better lighting system now to the back, to the left, to the right.”

MP Alexander said his aim is to ensure his constituents are comfortable.

“We managed to get some of those lights, some of them donated, I must recognise Fan Plus from the San Juan area, he would have contributed the lights, and we are looking to see what else we can do trying to make everybody comfortable. I told them this openly: It doesn’t matter who you voted for, I am responsible for you now, and it is my responsibility to make sure that you at least live or have a better quality of life.”

The MP noted, however, that there is still more work to be done in the community.

“They want to have a little playing field. There are some issues here for both HDC and WASA to treat with, and we are communicating with WASA, we are communicating with HDC, and we are trying to have these things resolved as soon as possible so persons can just go on living comfortably. They purchased these homes quite a while ago, and everybody wants to live comfortably. They told me they also have some trees. I made some arrangements to have some of those trees cut.”
