MPSDFS Settles Recently Audited Outstanding Debt Incurred By The Children’s Authority Since 2019

Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, the Honourable Vandana Mohit on Thursday July 2, 2026, presented cheques to the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, to cover recently audited outstanding payments totalling Thirty-Six Million, Thirty-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Four Dollars and Fifty-One Cents (TT$36,039,734.51).

These audited sums represent payments for long outstanding invoices for operational services and contractual obligations, essential for ensuring the continued delivery of care and protection services to children under the Authority’s purview.

The payments include:

  • The audited outstanding sum of TT$31,278,765.70 for security service invoices for various providers.
  • The audited outstanding sum of TT$2,903,299.85 for payment of invoices for works at the National Care and Empowerment Centre.
  • The audited outstanding sum of TT$1,857,668.96 for janitorial services.

These payments reflect the Ministry’s commitment to addressing inherited debts and its steadfast mission to promoting accountability, improving service delivery, and safeguarding the welfare of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

Further this measured approach mitigates the Authority and its current Board from initiated litigation for their failure to settle longstanding debts for janitorial services.

By honouring these commitments, the Ministry reinforces its dedication to ensuring that agencies such as the Children’s Authority are equipped to continue their vital work without disruption.

The Ministry extends thanks to the Ministry of Finance for its partnership and collaboration in resolving this matter.
