Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds says Government remains committed to ensuring that places of worship are protected. He notes that steps were taken to reduce or eliminate acts of sacrilege.
Responding to a question in the Senate on the vandalism of the Carapo Temple in May 2022, Minister Hinds said while the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has been playing an active role in investigations, Government has ensured that Municipal Police Units are properly resourced to assist in this regard.
Minister Hinds noted that at least one person was arrested and charged for the sacrilege at the Carapo Temple last year.
