National Training Agency Board Of Directors Presented With Instruments Of Appointment

The reconstituted Board of Directors of the National Training Agency (NTA) received their instruments of appointment on Tuesday 2nd September, 2025 during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST), Education Towers, Port of Spain.

The NTA is a central coordinating body responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the national training systems for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in support of the nation’s workforce development. The Agency ‘s roles include regulating, promoting and facilitating a coherent system of quality TVET. Present at the ceremony were Senator Professor the Honourable Prakash Persad, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training; Mr. Hansen Narinesingh, Parliamentary Secretary and Mr. Kurt Meyer, Permanent Secretary. Mr. Narinesingh specified that the NTA was established as the organization with oversight for technical and vocational qualifications. He highlighted the importance of quality assurance as he beckoned the Board to work assiduously, reminding members that at the forefront is the education of children and the responsibility for preparing people for the world of work.

In welcoming and thanking the Board, Minister Persad iterated the need for transparency , confidentiality, robust decision-making and collective responsibility. He stated, “NTA plays a critical role as we move forward.. . as a community college. Skills training is important  as university education, but both involves education and training.”
