New Tobago Airport Terminal Opens, Promising Tourism Opportunities

A new chapter took flight in Tobago on Tuesday, as government officials and stakeholders gathered for the opening of the new East Terminal at the A.N.R. Robinson International Airport.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the terminal’s opening will create opportunities and transform lives.

She noted that, with the capacity to accommodate up to three million passengers annually, the terminal provides the foundation for more international flights, visitor arrivals and expanded tourism activity.

“But let me emphasise: infrastructure creates opportunity, effective management, sound policies, strategic partnerships and hard work turn those opportunities into results. We must ensure Tobagonians are not spectators in their island’s development but that you are active participants and beneficiaries in the island’s development.”

The Prime Minister said the new terminal also creates opportunities to attract investment in hotels, guest houses, restaurants, recreational facilities and supporting industries.

In addition, the Prime Minister wants products from Tobago to be more visible.

“I want to see more Tobago-made products in our shops, more local farmers supplying our hotels, more Tobagonian-owned hotels and guesthouses, and young entrepreneurs building successful businesses here in Tobago.”

According to the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, the new East Terminal at the A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TAB), Tobago, will officially commence flight operations on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026.
