National Gas Company Chairman Gerald Ramdeen says Trinidad and Tobago is days away from major energy sector announcements that could signal a new phase of gas development and investment.
He said the announcements will come from Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
“In the energy sector, in particular, there is going to be delivery. For years you have heard about Dragon. For years you have heard about Manakin-Cocuina. For years you have heard about Manatee and Loran. What you are going to experience and what the people of this country and the region is going to experience is the actual monetisation of molecules that will bring revenue to the people of this country.”
Mr Ramdeen said international investors have been showing keen interest in Trinidad and Tobago.
“One of the significant announcements that is going to be made is to demonstrate that when you hear about Coconut, Ginger, Cypre, Manatee, the former Prime Minister and the former, former Minister of Energy, you must ask the same pointed questions: How much of that gas that was sanctioned by the former administration was destined to come into the downstream? Not a single molecule. All of those projects were sanctioned to benefit whom?”
The NGC Chairman made the comments while speaking with reporters after a ceremony to hand over the title deed for the Beachfield Gas Processing Facility in Guayaguayare on Friday.
