Sunshine and good weather were in full order for one birthday girl on Monday, which allowed for a small gathering in celebration of her 103rd year of life at the Bishop Amazing Home for the Elderly in Claxton Bay.
Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox, officials from the Ministry, and the residents of the home journeyed to South Trinidad and joined in celebrating the long life of Ms. Norma Drakes.
Ms. Drakes was born on October 31st, 1919 and was honoured as part of the Ministry’s National Centenarian Programme. She told TTT News that she was happy to be alive and recalled how life was back in her younger days.
Ms. Drakes also shared that she enjoys spending a lot of quiet moments by herself, and gave this response as one of the possible reasons for her longevity.
