After crawling through several meters of cramped ceiling vents at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca last evening, a group of highly trained officers returned with a massive haul of contraband.
Their efforts were part of an intelligence-led operation coordinated by Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, Acting Commissioner of Prisons, Hayden Forde, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Suzette Martin and Senior Superintendents Raymond Thom, Maynard-Wilson and Gift.
The extensive search in the Prison’s ventilation system and massive crackdown was conducted between 5:30pm and 9pm on Tuesday 25th November, 2025 and yielded the following finds:
- 62 cellular phones
- 235 packs of cigarettes
- Three kilogrammes of marijuana
- Eight grammes of cocaine
- One solar panel charger
- A large quantity of wrapping paper
- A quantity of chargers and USB cords
- Three screw drivers
- One hammer
- One four-inch carving knife
- One surge protector
- One kettle
- One G-Shock watch
- One sports watch
- One shortened cutlass
- Two thousand and twelve TT dollars (TT$2,012)
- Electrical circuits powered by rechargeable batteries
- Headsets
- Four digital scales
- One Wifi box
- Two power banks
- One bottle of Men’s cologne
- A quantity of razor blades and
- Three tattoo needles
The operation was supervised by Senior Superintendent of Prisons, Lee Davis, Superintendent Modestte, ASP Stanley, Sergeant Cesar of the Northern North Gang Unit, Corporal Brown of the Northern North Task Force, Corporal Williams and Corporal Hyde of the DCP Operations Team, and included Police Constables Fabres, Parsons, Gibson and Stanley, and WPC Joseph, and members of the Prison Emergency Response Unit.
