Two coordinated anti-crime initiatives conducted across Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday October 23rd, 2025, resulted in the seizure of narcotics and the arrest of one man.
Between the hours of 6pm and 10pm, officers of the North Eastern Division conducted a Drug Block and Roving Stop and Search Operation as part of Operation Steadfast 3 – Phase 5.
Drug blocks in the following areas were targeted: Prizgar Road, San Juan; Sunshine Avenue, San Juan; William Street, Aranguez; JoJo Lane, El Socorro; and Maraj Street, El Socorro. Several persons were searched; however, nothing illegal was found.
While conducting searches in the vicinity of a supermarket near the Corner of Eastern Main Road and 6th Avenue, Barataria, a team of officers with assistance of the K-9 Unit identified a suspicious silver-coloured Honda Civic motor vehicle. The driver, a 41-year-old man of Upper 6th Avenue, Malick, was present and confirmed ownership of the vehicle. A search conducted in his presence revealed a black plastic bag containing cannabis concealed beneath the gear shifter console. The substance weighed 110 grammes.
The man was cautioned, informed of his rights and privileges, arrested, and taken to the San Juan Police Station for further processing.
The exercise was spearheaded by W/Snr. Supt. Guy-Alleyne, Supt. Birch, and ASP Callender, and coordinated by Insp. Ramsingh. It was supervised by Sgt. Martin, Sgt. Maynard, and Cpl. Lavia, and included members of the NEDTF, NEDGIU, and the K-9 Unit.
In another exercise in the Tobago Division, between 11:30am and 4pm, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) conducted an anti-crime exercise targeting several drug blocks across the Scarborough, Argyle, and Roxborough districts.
Around 1:30 p.m., while searching an abandoned house opposite the old Magistrate’s Court in Roxborough, K-9 “Hulk” alerted officers to a specific area of the premises. Upon further inspection, an officer discovered and seized two brown rectangular packets and one transparent rectangular packet, each containing a quantity of cannabis weighing 1.5 kilogrammes.
The items were taken to the Crown Point Police Station for processing.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Hazel and ACP Subero, with oversight by Snr. Supt. Elie, Snr. Supt. Ramnarine, Supt. Ramsook, and ASP Singh, and supported by K-9 personnel.
