One Suspect Held And Two Firearms Seized In Ongoing Anti-Crime Exercises

One man was arrested and two firearms seized during ongoing anti-crime exercises, conducted in the Northern and Port of Spain Divisions yesterday.

In the Arima district, Criminal Investigations Department detectives conducted an intelligence-driven exercise between 2:30pm and 4:30pm on Tuesday 26th November, 2024.

During the exercise, officers went in search of a male suspect wanted in connection with a report of a sexual offence in March 2024.

A 30 year old suspect of Wallerfield was detained pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile, in the Pinto district, officers conducted an exercise between 12 midnight and 3am on Wednesday 27th November, 2024, during which they proceeded to some abandoned building and conducted a search.

The search resulted in one shotgun being discovered hidden near a wall.

And in the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise in the Laventille district between 8pm on Tuesday 26th November, 2024 and 1:30am on Wednesday 27th November, 2024.

During the exercise, officers proceeded to Picton Road where they observed a group of men. Upon seeing the officers, the men ran off.

A check of the area resulted in the discovery of one Glock 17 pistol outfitted with a selector and loaded with a magazine containing 34 rounds of ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
