Over 100 Additional Police Officers Deployed To Tobago For Carnival

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has deployed additional resources to Tobago to help maintain law and order during the Carnival season on the island.

Senior Superintendent of the Tobago Division Rodhill Kirk said more than 100 police officers from Trinidad will join a special inter-agency task force in Tobago as Carnival activities officially begin on Thursday.

He confirmed that most task force members are already on the island. The team also includes personnel from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, Coast Guard and Air Guard.

“I also observe that post-Carnival there are a number of events for cool down. We are responsible for putting in the public space that we are there to protect and serve with pride; we are there to protect to make sure that no untoward incidents occurred with any visitors, or any residents in the area.”

Senior Superintendent Kirk warned that the public should expect some inconvenience as officers carry out operations across the island.

The main Tobago Carnival events are carded for Friday, October 30th, to Sunday, November 1st.
