Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, has once again commended the dedication and professionalism of the officers and partner agencies involved in the operation that resulted in the seizure of an estimated TT$56 million worth of illegal cannabis.
In commenting on the operation, Commissioner Guevarro stated: “The significance of major seizures such as this is measured not only in monetary value, but in the lives protected from the scourge of illegal narcotics. While drug trafficking networks seek to profit from the suffering of others, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will continue to apply maximum effort in the fight against crime and disrupt these criminal enterprises where it impacts them most, by dismantling their operations and depriving them of illicit profits.”
An intelligence-led anti-crime exercise conducted in the Point Fortin district on Thursday December 11th, 2025, resulted in the seizure of 23 bales of marijuana.
The operation, conducted between 4:30pm and 8:30pm, was spearheaded by Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro and Senior Superintendent Thompson, and coordinated by ASP Forbes, ASP Corrie, and ASP Lewis. Officers of the Special Branch South and the South Western Division participated in the exercise.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to a remote, forested location off South Central Road, Cap-De-Ville, Point Fortin. While searching the area, they discovered 23 bales of cannabis, wrapped in black plastic.
Crime Scene Investigators from the South Western Division, PC Telesford and PC Ramdass, processed the scene. The items were subsequently handed over to officers of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for further enquiries.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service remains committed to conducting intelligence-driven operations aimed at reducing serious crime and disrupting illegal drug activities across the country.
